What is web code?

In this exercise we will explore how web pages are made of code and have fun tinkering with it to make fake websites.

The three webcode languages

They have fancy names and different roles: html, css and JavaScript. We will learn why they need each other.

How websites are made

Wysiwyg editors, CSMs and editing code; each has it's place.

This is where most of the playing with code will be done.

Numberline

A standalone numberline; also available as part of the Mathstoolkit suite of tools

Subitise

A collection of activities that support the teaching and practising of this important early skill. Subitise numbers in dice, 10-frame and random layout, or play the Greedy Sheep game.

Whiteboard Paper

A simple but effective utility for quickly setting and scaling an IWB background.

Handwriting Paper

A simple utility for sharing text in pre-cursive fonts to support handwriting practice.

45 HF Words Spelling

Independent practice of high frequency spellings. I made this to support children in my class with dyslexia and it proved to be very effective.

Number Practice Tests

A large collection of interactive practise tests for developing progressive number skills in support of a scheme, supported by printable assessment tests.

Web Page Maker

A simple utility that allows learners to drag and drop html tags and see the page they are building, without the struggle of having to type syntax accurately.

Colour Match Challenge

An exercise for developing an understanding of how RGB values are used to define colour which can be used as a segue into editing html/css web code.

JavaScript Turtle

A resource for replicating block-based code turtle style exercise using the same commands with JavaScript, which makes an excellent introduction to using loops and functions.
